CRU service part removal and replacement procedure:

This document describes how to perform hardware service maintenance for your Personal Computer. The procedures described in this document are intended to help users to replace faulty Customer Replaceable Units (CRU).

• STEP 1 - Removal of the defective part
  

  
  Battery Removal
  
  1.) Turn off the power of the computer
  2.) Disconnect the AC adaptor and other external devices from the computer
  3.) Turn the computer face down
  4.) Release the battery lock and remove the battery pack while sliding the battery release latch as shown in the following figure
      
  


Base Cover Removal

1.) Close the display panel and turn the computer face down and remove the battery pack.
2.) For models with memory module cover, first remove the screw securing the memory module cover, and then remove the cover. 
     Note that the screw is attached to the cover in order to prevent it from being lost.
   


4.) Remove the following screws securing the cover assembly and base assembly.
   


3.) Separate the base assembly and cover assembly while releasing the latches
   

Memory Removal

1.) Open the left and right latches outside and remove the memory module(s):
  


SSD / HDD Removal

 


1.) Disconnect the HDD FFC from the connector CN1900 on the system board.
      


2.) Remove the HDD/SSD following the direction of the arrows.
    


3.) Remove the HDD FFC from the HDD/SSD.
    
4.) Only SSD:
  



ODD Removal

    


1.) Remove the optical disk drive assembly from the connector CN1950 on the system board while pushing it in the direction as shown in the figure below
    


2.) Remove the following screws and ODD rear bracket from the optical disk drive
    


3.) Remove the ODD bezel while releasing the latch
    




• STEP 2 - Installation of the new part
  
  

  Installing the ODD
  
  1.) Attach the ODD bezel while closing the latch
  2.) Assemble ODD rear bracket to the optical disk drive and secure it with the screw
  3.) Insert the optical disk drive assembly to the connector CN1950 on the system board while pushing it in the direction, vice versa to the shown in the figure in step 1
  
  
  Installing the memory module

1.) Insert the memory module(s) into the connector(s) slantwise and press it down to connect firmly
2.) When the power of the computer is turned on, the computer checks automatically the memory size. Confirm that the new memory is detected correctly
3.) If the memory is not detected, check if it is connected correctly



Installing the HDD / SSD

1.) In case of SSD model, secure the SSD with the screw
2.) Attach the HDD FFC to the HDD/SSD
3) Insert the HDD/SSD inversely as shown in the procedure in step 1
4) Connect the HDD FFC to the connector CN1900 on the system board




Installing the Base Assy
1.) Attach the base assembly and cover assembly
2.) Secure the following screws to attach the cover assembly and base assembly.


       IMPORTANT NOTE
    
               Secure the screws in the order as shown below:

               [ STEP 1 ] - Screw 1 to 18 
           [ STEP 2 ] - Screw a to f

              

             

4.) For models with memory module cover, first attach the cover, and then the screw securing the memory module cover. Note that the screw is attached to the cover in order to prevent it from being lost.
3.) Turn the computer face up and open the display panel. Next, insert the battery pack.


Installing the Battery pack

1.) Attach the battery vice versa to the procedure shown in step 1
2.) Turn the computer face up
3.) Connect the AC adaptor and other external devices to the computer
4.) Turn on the power of the computer





• STEP 3 - Functional check of the product
  

  Perform a functional check to see, if the unit is working as expected.
